JACOB GRABS GOLD FOR WFP-NEG. OCC.
Renalyn “Ren-Ren” Jacob of the Black Falcon Martial Arts Association-Main (BFMAA-Main) snatched a gold medal in a convincing fashion to save the 4-man Wushu Federation of the Philippines-Negros Occidental from a medal shutout at the 3rd Iloilo National Wushu Sanshou Championships “Cong. Raul Gonzalez Cup” held by the Iloilo Tinagan Martial Arts Club Inc. (ITMACI) of Founder/Chief Instructor and Wushu Federation of the Philippines-Region 6 Head Coach Arnold S. Tinagan as part of the 2006 Dinagyang Festival last January 25, 2006 at the SM City Iloilo Activity Center, Manduriao, Iloilo City.
Jacob went up against 2005 national bronze medalist Marianne Jaromahun of the Iloilo Tinagan Martial Arts Club Inc. and ended the bout by 2nd round Referee stopped contest (RSC) in the 53 kg. women’s juniors division.
Jacob’s teammates, however, were paired with and ultimately succumbed to some of the strongest bets in the event. 2005 national champion and Philippine Team member and his Philippine team colleague Ruel Catalan of Sta. Barbara won over Julius Dohinog and former Philippine Team trainee Jet Lumawag of the Wushu Federation of the Philippines-Negros Occidental in the 48 kg. and 52 kg. men’s seniors category respectively. Janry Amante bowed to Honorato Segecio of the Philippine Tiger Martial Arts-Iloilo in the 48 kg. men’s juniors division.
The Bacolod wushu artists were handled by Wushu Federation of the Philippines-Negros Occidental Coordinator and Black Falcon Martial Arts Association-Main Chief Instructor Joery C. Amante.
FMA is for Filipino Martial Arts. FMA Circle is a group of persons and organizations sharing a common interest or revolving about a common center. That common center is the Art and Craft of Martial Arts as practiced, and developed by Filipino Warriors and Scholars of the Warrior Ways. In short, FMA Circle is dedicated to any Martial Arts as practiced by Filipinos.
