BACSMA JINS CONTRIBUTE TO WV NAT’L PIRSAA CROWN RETENTION

Western Visayas successfully defended its overall championship crown with a 71-75-61 medal haul in the 2006 National PRISAA (Private Schools Athletic Association) Games on February 6-11, 2006 in Lingayen, Pangasinan. Sothern Mindanao (61-52-50), Central Visayas (47-320-56), Southern Tagalog (33-40-30), and Ilocos (26-29-20) were 2nd to 5th places respectively.

Bacolod Consolidated Sports Management Association (BACSMA) jins Catherine Samonte and Jennylyn Palama added a gold and a bronze to the medal harvest of the Western Visayas PRISAA Team in taekwondo. Samonte disposed of opponents from Regions 4-A, 8, and 1 to be crowned champion in the welterweight division. Meanwhile, Palama disposed of foes from Regions 4 and 8 but succumbed to a Pampanga bet in the bout for the silver medal in her division.

Samonte and Palama are both freshmen nursing students from Riverside College and trains under Coach Catherine Joy Guotana and Trainor Joel R. Casiple at the Bacolod Consolidated Sports Management Association (BACSMA), Dance Line studio, 3F Centroplex Bldg., Gonzaga st., Bacolod City. Samonte was a varsity at the Sum-ag National High School while Palama was a varsity at the Negros Occidental High School. They earned their slots by winning matches in the NOPSSCEA Games and WVPRISAA Games held in Bacolod.
