ILOILO DETHRONES NEG. OCC. AS WVPRISAA OVERALL CHAMP, BUT NEG. OCC. DOMINATES TKD EVENT
Iloilo defeated defending overall champion for 32 years Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural, Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) with a 66-48-29 medal haul vs Negros’ 53-59-32 during the revived 2004 Western Visayas Private Schools Athletics Association (WVPRISAA) Regional Meet held by the Capiz PRISAA on February 19-21, 2004 at the Villareal Sports Complex, Roxas City, Capiz.
However, Negros Occidental dominated the taekwondo event, the only combat sport among the 11 sports featured, with a 5-1-0 medal haul in the men’s category and 4-2-0 in the women’s division. Iloilo (2-1-1) and Capiz (0-1-3) were 2nd and 3rd places respectively in the women’s division.

MEN’S BANTAMWEIGHT 58-62 KG. Vincent Mijares of Negros (gold), Jimbill Menancio of Capiz (silver), Junel Madrazo of Aklan (bronze).
MEN’S FEATHERWEIGHT 62-67 KG. Victor Agraciada of Negros (gold), ramie Base of Capiz (silver), Mon Paolo Bearmeza of Iloilo and Abraham Farel of Aklan (bronze).
MEN’S LIGHTWEIGHT 67-78 KG. Paul Medes of Negros (gold), Elleus Candaliza of Iloilo (silver), Joven Venancio of Capiz and Mark Anthony Manzanares of Aklan (bronze).
MEN’S MIDDLEWEIGHT 78-84 KG. Rey Parreño of Iloilo (gold), Sydney Palermo of Negros (silver), Robert Rala III of Capiz and Sharon Zaballero of Aklan (bronze).
