NTMA & BACSMA HOSTS 2005 NEGROS INTER-SCHOOL TKD TILT

The Negros Taekwondo Mission Association (NTMA), an affiliate of the World Taekwondo Mission Federation (affiliated: World Taekwondo Federation), in cooperation with the Bacolod Consolidated Sports Management Association (BACSMA) held the 2005 Negros Inter-School Taekwondo Championships last August 6, 2005 at the Saint Benilde School Covered Court, Bacolod City.

In the elementary division, Shiloh Christian School was crowned champion with a 1-1-2 medal haul. Education Training Center School-1 (1-1-1) and St. John’s Institute (1-0-1) were 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

In the high school division, Negros Occidental High School (NOHS) was crowned champion with a 5-5-1 medal haul. Sum-ag National High School (4-3-3) and Medel National High School (2-4-1) were 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

In the college division, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) took 3 championship titles while Visayan Maritime Academy (VMA) and Riverside Medical College (RMC) won 2 and 1 championship titles respectively.

Guest of honor was Hon. Councilor Mark Louie “XI” de la Rosa. Felix “Vic” Feria Jr., World Taekwondo Mission Federation liaison officer for Visayas, was chairman of the organizing committee while Joel R. Casiple, Bacolod Consolidated Sports Management Association head instructor, was tournament director. Technical officials include Albert Algarme, Jerry Estante, Catherine Joy Guotana, Ellen June Guotana, Victor Lopez, Liwayway Malumay, Christine Mejias, Melbeth Ramirez, Mark Anthony Tan, and Agustin Tupal.

Gold medalists were:

ELEMENTARY BOYS NOVICE. Matthew Daclan of Jack and Jill (4’0” and under), Jonan Colinco of Shiloh Christian School (4’0”-4’3”), Tristan Daclan of Trinity Christian School (4’3”-4’6”), Zach Salvador (4’6”-4’9”), and Joseph Guerrero of Koryo Martial Arts (4’9”-5’0”).

ELEMENTARY BOYS ADVANCE. Jason Teodoro of ETCS-1 (4’0”-4’3”), James Madrigal of LCC-Main (4’3” 4’6”), Tedjay Ibañez of Bacolod Christian Center (4’6”-4’9”), Gehru Bedayos of Medel Elem. School (4’9”-5’0”), and Antonio Evangelio of La Castellana Elem. School (5’0”-5’3”).

ELEMENTARY GIRLS NOVICE. Eryel Daclan of Koryo Martial Arts (4’0” and under) and Zion Gumapang of Rizal Elem. School (4’0”-4’3”).

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS NOVICE. Jiz Imalay of Binalbagan Catholic College (Finweight), Rodolfo Sabay of Sum-ag National High School (flyweight), Rojen Damasco of Sum-ag National High School (bantamweight), and Carmelinjo Divino of Sum-ag National High School (welterweight).

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS ADVANCE. Eugene Bedayos of Negros Occidental High School (Finweight), Allan de Larrazabal of Negros Occidental High School (flyweight), Roy Vincent Dionela of Don Bosco-Victorias (bantamweight), and John Reyes of Christian Venture Academy (welterweight).

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS NOVICE. Regine Compra of Negros Occidental High School (Finweight), Gellie Tamayo of Medel National High School (flyweight), Annamie Duremdes of Medel National High School (bantamweight), and Marjorie Ines of Negros Occidental High School (welterweight).

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS ADVANCE. Stephanie Samonte of Negros Occidental High School (Finweight) and Myrel Tapang of Sum-ag National High School (flyweight).

COLLEGE MEN. Rex Tupal of Visayan Maritime Academy (finweight) and John Mark Proneza of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (flyweight).

COLLEGE WOMEN. Agustina Tupal of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (Finweight), Barbara Gruber of Visayan Maritime Academy (bantamweight), Catherine Samonte of Riverside Medical College (featherweight), and April Joy Salazar the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (lightweight).

Meanwhile, a Korean 7th dan black belt master and top official of the World Taekwondo Mission Federation (WTMF) based in Seoul, South Korea conducted a second local rank promotion examinations for Bacolod Consolidated Sports Management Association (BACSMA) jins on August 7, 2005 at the BACSMA Gym, Court D, 3F Cineplex Bldg., Araneta St., Bacolod City.
