BFMAA BOXING CHAMPS, CMAS & PIMAA-FTSDA SHARE WUSHU CHAMPIONSHIP

The Black Falcon Martial Arts Association-Main (BFMAA-Main) of Chief Instructor Joery C. Amante in cooperation with the Wushu Federation of the Philippines-Negros Occidental (WFP-Neg. Occ.) and the Intercontinental Federation of Martial Arts Schools (IFMAS) held the 2nd San Lorenzo Ruiz Village Wushu Sanshou Competition, the 7th Prk. Bulak Boxing Showdown, and the 1st Prk. Bulak Arnis Competition last September 18, 2005 at the Mandalagan Elementary School Covered Court, Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City. 24 competitors representing 5 groups fought in a total of 13 bouts (5 boxing, 6 wushu sanshou, 2 arnis). More than 200 residents of Prk. Bulak and visitors witnessed the hard hitting action event. The tournaments were held as part of the San Lorenzo Ruiz Village Foundation Day.

WESTERN BOXING. Champion: Black Falcon Martial Arts Association-Main (3 wins). 2nd place: Prk. Bulak (2 wins).

Kids’ Division. John Paul Alegre of Prk. Bulak over Jino Galvez of Prk. Sambag by unanimous decision. Jomarie Yucaran of BFMAA-Main over Jade Esmalla of Prk. Bulak by majority decision. Jun-Jun Amante of BFMAA-Main over Rafael Nuevo of Prk. Sambag by unanimous decision.

Juniors Division. Vincent Pehid of Prk. Bulak over John Mark Amante of BFMAA-Main by split decision. Ephraim Manlapao of BFMAA-Main over Pigy Pehid of Prk. Bulak by unanimous decision.

WUSHU SANSHOU. Champion: Tie for Black Falcon Martial Arts Association-Main, Conceptual Martial Arts Society-Porferia & USLS, and Philippine Integrated Martial Arts Academy-Filipino Tang Soo Do Association (2 wins each).

Kids’ Division. John Lendl Amante of BFMAA-Main over John Paul Dionila of Prk. Bulak. Dante Reynaldo Jacob of BFMAA-Main over Jimboy Gallanero of Prk. Sambag.

Juniors Division. Steven Mark Gumban of PIMAA-FTSDA over Koji Posadas of CMAS-Porferia. Andy Makilan of PIMAA-FTSDA over John Philip Sincero of BFMAA-Main.

Seniors Division. Elizer “Jun-Jun” Agudo Jr. of CMAS-USLS over John Manuel Fama of BFMAA-Main. Joeben “JR” Rodriguez of of CMAS-Porferia over Rosendo Trayco III of BFMAA-Main.

ARNIS. Champion: Conceptual Martial Arts Society-Alijis.

Seniors Division. Heli Altamarino of CMAS-Alijis over Franco Martir of United Negros Fighting Arts Academy by default. Nathaniel Gregory of CMAS-Alijis over Jonel Mancesa of UNFAA by default.

DEMONSTRATIONS. A combined demo team composed by instructors and members of the Conceptual Martial Arts Society (CMAS) and Kalantiaw Defense Society (KDS) gave various exhibitions on Lapu-Lapu Viñas arnis, original Filipino tapado, oido de caburata, and Yasay sable. The demo team included Grandmaster Dominador “Doming” D. Ferrer, CMAS Founder James U. Sy Jr., CMAS Instructors Dante S. Robles and Joeffrey S. Deriada, Heli Altamarino, and Nathaniel Gregory.
