PHILIPPINE PENCAK SILAT ASSOCIATION-BACOLOD BRINGS HOME 1 GOLD, 2 SILVER FROM TIGBAUAN TILT
Philippine Pencak Silat Association (Philsilat)-Bacolod, represented by Conceptual Martial Arts Society (CMAS) of Philsilat Bacolod City Coordinator James U. Sy Jr. and Vice Coordinator Narciso “Hansy” L. Alojado, brought home 1 gold and 2 silver finishes during the 1st Pencak Silat Summer Expo organized by Philsilat Region 6 Chapter under Western Visayas Vice President/Director Orlando G. Garpa in cooperation with its different affiliates in Western Visayas and Philsilat Region 7 Chapter on April 2, 2005 at the Tigbauan Covered Court, Tigbauan, Iloilo.
University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos’ Fritz Gerard K. Fernandez dominated rivals from Guimbal and Tigbauan to rule the sini 1, 2, 3 category. University of St. La Salle’s Chester F. Esmalla finished 2nd in men’s ingratan kazar while Domingo Lacson National High School’s Joeben “JR” Rodriguez finished 2nd in the juniors 39-42 kg. tanding division.
Expenses by the Philsilat-Bacolod was handled by a private sponsor.
Demonstrations were given by Winners Gym Studio A Karatedo Club of Philippine Karatedo Federation (PKF) Iloilo City Coordinator Lainier G. Miane Sensei, Standard Karate-Do Association (SKA) of Garpa Sensei, and CMAS. Sy and Alojado made the first demonstration of Lapu-Lapu Viñas arnis, Yasay sable, and Togle style modern arnis both in Tigbauan and the Panay Islands.
FMA is for Filipino Martial Arts. FMA Circle is a group of persons and organizations sharing a common interest or revolving about a common center. That common center is the Art and Craft of Martial Arts as practiced, and developed by Filipino Warriors and Scholars of the Warrior Ways. In short, FMA Circle is dedicated to any Martial Arts as practiced by Filipinos.
