1ST REG’L TAPONDO COMPETITION HELD
The Tapondo International Federation Inc.-Negros Chapter (TIFI-Negros) of Chief Instructor Roy R. Flores Sr. Sensei successfully held the 1st Regional Tapondo Competition on April 25, 2004 at the Atrium Area, Gaisano City Bacolod Supermall, Brgy. Singcang, Araneta St., Bacolod City. 8 TIFI chapters competed in various categories.
TIFI-Bacolod Chapter of Flores Sensei was overall champion with 5 trophies and 2 medals. TIFI-Toboso of Basilio de la Torre and Escalante Chapter of Rolando Mirasol were 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
Bacolod winners of trophies were Alson Ahunin (stick defense for brown belt), Rene Besana (kicking defense for yellow belt), Player Gabiles (kid’s 7-12 years old long thrust and somersault), and Archie Tijing (adult’s high thrust); medalists, Alan Facturan (knife defense for blue belt) and Tijing (adults somersault).
Other participating chapters were Calatrava and Canubgan of Jess Bulanon, Iloilo of Regional Director SPO4 Roberto Celiz, San Carlos of Florencio Yap, Sagay of Red Faumasing, and Silay of Edrolin Ortigas.
FMA is for Filipino Martial Arts. FMA Circle is a group of persons and organizations sharing a common interest or revolving about a common center. That common center is the Art and Craft of Martial Arts as practiced, and developed by Filipino Warriors and Scholars of the Warrior Ways. In short, FMA Circle is dedicated to any Martial Arts as practiced by Filipinos.
