NUÑESCO WINS IN MANO-MANO ELIMS

Sherwin Nuñesco of the Wushu Federation of the Philippines-Negros Occidental/Black Falcon Martial Arts Association-Main (BFMAA-Main) won his bout at the Mano Mano Eliminations held by the Amateur Muay Thai Association of the Philippines (AMTAP) of Orlando Lapuz on July 17, 2004 at the Muay Thai Corner Gym, 5F Karren Bldg., No. 9 Annapolis St., Cubao, Quezon City.

The tournament was a qualifier for the Mano Mano competition slated for August 9, 2004 in Baguio City.

Nuñesco, weighing only 47 kg., entered the 50 kg. division and won against muay Thai boxer Jarry De La Cruz of Bullheaded by knockout in the 2nd round.

Nuñesco had just joined the Philippine Wushu Team on July 10, 2004 at the National Wushu Training Center (WFP General Headquarters), 5F PCSM Bldg., Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, P. Ocampo St., Malate, Manila. He along with Jet Lumawag, were the first Negrenses to be accepted in the national team. Their trainor is WFP National Head Coach Yu Zhi Bo.
